Noise control or vibration isolation systems reduce the amount of acoustic energy transferred from the source(s) to sensitive locations. Vibration isolation may require a reduction of about 95% of the vibrational energy that is transmitted, which equates to a 13dB reduction in sound terms. For noise control, 20dB equates to 99% reduction, and a 30dB reduction requires that only 0.1% of the original energy reaches the noise receptor i.e. the attenuation system has to be 99.9% effective.
