The UK Government has produced a useful leaflet ‘Bothered by Noise?’, which can be downloaded at: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/69455/pb12023-bothered-by-noise-060701.pdf.

It is often best to contact the noise/ vibration producer first and see if they can resolve the problem informally. Failing this, local authorities have a duty to investigate legitimate complaints about noise. This is usually undertaken by the Environmental Health or Pollution Control department.
